Hi everyone!
So, this last Friday we had a lot of fun together and we learned some new things about God. Would you like to know what we learned? Here it is:
Have you ever asked yourself the question “Why am I here?” “Why did God create us?”
Well, there are four basic areas of God’s plan for us:
1: RELATIONSHIP (John 14:23): We were created to have a deep relationship with God. Why?
God wanted to have a family, with children capable or choosing whether to love him or not. That’s why God gave us free will, and that’s what make love so exciting. When you’re loved, you know that the person that loves you has chosen to do so. It wouldn’t be fun to be loved by someone that acts more like a robot… programmed to love you no matter what…
2: CHARACTER (Genesis 1:27): God created us to become like Him.
What is character? Well, it’s nothing more than who you are on the inside. Your values and moral attributes… Who you really are when nobody is looking. God created us to have a character like His own. So, do you want to know how God’s character looks like? Take a look at Galatians 5:22,23 “…love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control…” That’s how we should be. That’s the fruit of the Spirit. By the way… we’ll talk more about the fruit of the Spirit in the coming weeks so… stay tuned! NEXT!
3: FUNCTION: God created us with a job to do here on Earth.
Have you ever imagined how boring it would be if we had only been created for the sake of existing? We have one mission here that was delayed due to our sin in the Eden: Genesis 1:26,28 “Let them have dominion. …subdue it: and have dominion”
As our father, God wanted us to share in his “family business” which is to have dominion over His creation.
4: REPRODUCTION: Yeah, I know what you’re thinking… What do you mean with reproduction???
Well… Genesis 1:28 says:
God gave them his blessing and said:
Have a lot of children! Fill the earth with people and bring it under your control. Rule over the fish in the ocean, the birds in the sky, and every animal on the earth.
As our father he wanted to share with us two wonderful experiences: 1. Being a parent and 2. Generating life. Isn’t that cool? He shared with us the power to create life. We are directly involved in that process.
However there is another aspect of reproduction: Spiritual reproduction. “OK Thiago… what in the world are you talking about?” Simple, we are assigned to bring people to God, giving them a new life, increasing the number of God’s people. Pretty neat, eh?!
Well guys, that’s it for this week. See you again soon. Leave your comments and questions below. Have a wonderful week! Peace!
